Tension Fix - EZ Vise

The tension settings are in the center of the vise arm where the handle is. Turn your handle counter clockwise to the loose position. There’s a 5/32 set screw in the top of the handle, loosen the set screw a few turns, then there’s a silver bolt that comes up thru the center of the arm from the bottom, tighten that bolt maybe a half turn then tighten the 5/32 set screw back down against that silver bolt. Turn your handle to the lock position, it should feel stronger when you twist that handle to lock it in place, and then check the tension. If it needs more just repeat that again until you get the tension that you like. Be sure not to move the big silver bolt more than a half round at a time. If you over tighten that silver bolt, while the set screw is loose, and then you go to lock your vise arm it can pop the center connection joint and cause it to split. You just want to go 1/2 turn at a time until you get your desired tension. If you go to lock the handle and it’s super hard to flip the locking lever, you might not want to stop, take it 1/2” back out and then try again.

Tightening the EZ Vise arm and curing popping.

First thing to do is remove the 5/32 set screw from the top of the EZ Vise handle. In between the two vise arms, in their connecting joint, there are eight ball bearings inside that control the vises ability to lock and / or release. You’ll want to hold the bottom arm up against the top arm with your first two fingers so that the ball bearings do not come out when you unscrew the main bolt holding both arms together. Once you have the set screw removed and then are holding both arms together firmly. You’ll then unscrew the silver bolt that goes up through the arm into the black vise handle used to lock the vise down.

Note: You’ll only unscrew that bolt enough so that it comes out of the vise handle itself. Then while still holding the rest of the vise together with one hand, remove the handle and there should be three ball bearings inside there with it. You’ll see three ball bearing indentions in the top of the vise side and then also inside the black handle. Set those three ball bearings down into the indention’s while also putting your handle back in place on those same 3 ball bearings on the opposite side. After that you’ll then start tightening it back down with the big silver bolt. Once you have it snugged put the 5/32 set screw back into the top of the handle and tighten it back down onto the silver bolt.

At this point you will need to adjust your tension so that it’s set at a good tension setting. Follow the instructions above “Tension Fix - EZ Vise” for detailed info on how the tension is adjusted.
